Community Group FAQ’s

What’s a Community Group?

A Community Group is a gathering of people who meet to share a common interest or study the Bible together. The group members encourage one another and share their lives with each other.

What is a Meet-up Community Groups?

Community Group is sharing life together. For some people, that means sharing an interest in an activity that many people can enjoy together. Whether that is a hiking group, craft group, board game group, dining group, or any idea that people can do in a group, a meet-up is a way to advertise and include more people in a group. The website Meet-up is a way we have chosen to advertise and invite people from the North Kitsap community to join in an activity. If you have an idea for a new Meet-up, please contact the church office.

Who leads Community Groups?

Community Group leaders are those who have an interest in hosting a group with a particular theme. For meet-up groups, that could mean a craft group, outdoor activity group, or a fun activity that is enjoyed by a group of people. For Bible study groups, the leader received training in group dynamics. Their own experience with life issues and understanding of God’s Word make them a resource for encouragement, and prayer.

Are there activities for children?

It depends. Children are important but each Community Group is unique and make their own arrangements.

Where do Community Groups meet?

Community Groups meet at the church or in homes and apartments throughout the North Kitsap area. The atmosphere is casual, friendly and welcoming.

How often do Community Groups meet?

Community Groups can either meet weekly or monthly, depending on the type of group. The dynamic of Community Group works best when it is made a regular priority.

I’d like to host a group, but don’t want to lead it…can I do that?

YES! We need people who are willing to open their homes as meeting places.

How long do the groups last?

We have some groups that are short term, topical groups. Others will be ongoing as a social group sharing a common interest. Still other groups run in conjunction with specific sermon series and only last a few weeks. Some of the study groups are “ongoing.” As people get “connected,” they want to be together to share an activity, study the Bible, pray for one another, and enjoy close fellowship.
